Ingredients:
For the Patties:
- 3 tablespoons of a neutral cooking oil (such as canola or vegetable oil)
- 1.5 pounds of ground chuck (80/20)
- ¾ cup of finely minced onion
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon of a hot sauce (like Tiger Sauce), optional, adjust to taste
- 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon of freshly cracked black pepper
Around ⅓ cup of all-purpose flour for coating the patties
For the Gravy:
- 1 large Vidalia or other sweet onion, halved and thinly sliced (approximately 3 cups)
- 1 cup of beef broth
- 1 cup of water
- ¼ cup of all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon of seasoned salt, adjust to taste
- ¼ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper, adjust to taste
- ½ tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, optional
- 1 teaspoon of browning and seasoning sauce (such as Kitchen Bouquet), optional
- 2 cups of sliced mushrooms, optional
